Good morning everyone, from Hawaii, through the entire world. We are here today to celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I will use the book of Matthew for our resources although we will be missing a few added points, from the Books of Luke, Mark, and John. But the weakness has ever held me in complete turmoil, my heath is getting worse and I can only do so much, I am supposed to be receiving IV’s of antibiotics, (now) for the next 4 weeks to kill this infection that has been going on almost 5 months, were I haven’t been able to eat or chew, suffering complete pain, and also an amplification of tests, trials, tribulations, hardships, fevers, and a continuous broken heart, also with the waiting and added stress, it has effected my emotional stability, because I love all mankind, and it seems I am be rejected just as Jesus said we would be.( John 15:18-20, Matt. 5:10-12) After seeing the right doctor, having to leave this island, and go to a more populated one, my good doctor had me undergo a nuclear bone scan of my mouth, in which they found an infection in my jaw bones. But because of red tape, and my doctor that has to OK the situation, is on vacation till the 13th in which I grow weaker and weaker, and everyday is harder and harder to do anything, to add, it is by the grace of God that I am still able to sit up. My weight is dropping even more, and timing is very important, but as the world looks at it, besides the members and the prayer partners, of the church, friends, and all my affiliated churches and ministries, no one seems to care. I should have been in the hospital on the 7th already being treated. But as faith works, my Jesus is with me, and He is my strength and life eternal.
One more thing I would like to add, please excuse the empty white boxes and missing music that goes along with our major church web site pages, one of our fellow Christian networks, has gone down temporarily, or they are upgrading or repairing all the moving picturesque tracks of our Lord and Savior, along with other relations and links to biblical principles, evangelism, and salvation.
Dear Heavenly Father, We come to you this Easter Sunday asking for guidance, asking for your love and mercy, we are here to celebrate the resurrection of your Son Jesus from the dead, confirming that He is indeed King over life and death, that he suffered beyond all reality, for us all, to save this world, for all that believeth in Him shall be saved, and have eternal life with you Father. Please hold us as we try to preach and learn the ways of the truth, through the readings of your word. Please Lord send you Holy Spirit upon us all so we can feel His presence and help us fully understand the life and death and resurrection of the King of Kings, and Lord of Lords, on this day we worship and celebrate our freedom, through the blood, pain and all the afflictions that Jesus suffered on the cross at Calvary, and then rose from the grave to complete His desire and Yours, and to understand with a deep heart the wisdom and knowledge of the true meaning of this day. In the Name above all Names Jesus Christ, Amen
1When Jesus had finished saying all these things, he said to his disciples, 2"As you know, the Passover is two days away--and the Son of Man will be handed over to be crucified."
3Then the chief priests and the elders of the people assembled in the palace of the high priest, whose name was Caiaphas, 4and they plotted to arrest Jesus in some sly way and kill him. 5"But not during the Feast," they said, "or there may be a riot among the people."
6While Jesus was in Bethany in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, 7a woman came to him with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, which she poured on his head as he was reclining at the table.
8When the disciples saw this, they were indignant. "Why this waste?" they asked. 9"This perfume could have been sold at a high price and the money given to the poor."
10Aware of this, Jesus said to them, "Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a beautiful thing to me. 11The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me. 12When she poured this perfume on my body, she did it to prepare me for burial. 13I tell you the truth, wherever this gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
14Then one of the Twelve--the one called Judas Iscariot--went to the chief priests 15and asked, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" So they counted out for him thirty silver coins. 16From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
17On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Where do you want us to make preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
18He replied, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The Teacher says: My appointed time is near. I am going to celebrate the Passover with my disciples at your house.' " 19 So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them and prepared the Passover.
20When evening came; Jesus was reclining at the table with the Twelve. 21And while they were eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me."
22They were very sad and began to say to him one after the other, "Surely not I, Lord?"
23Jesus replied, "The one who has dipped his hand into the bowl with me will betray me. 24The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."
Caiaphas was the ruling high priest during Jesus’ ministry; He was also the son-in-law of Annas, who was the preceding high priest. Caiaphas served for 18 years, longer than most, as it seems he was foretelling and gifted at working together with the Romans. He was the first to recommend that Jesus should die to save the nation. This was also a deliberate plot to kill Jesus. They needed this plot otherwise because Jesus was so loved, they were afraid to arrest him in front of the people during the Passover. They were afraid of what might happen next. Hundreds of thousands came to Jerusalem for the Passover and riots were not uncommon.
This woman was Mary, the sister of Martha and Lazarus, who lived in Bethany. It is also said that some Alabaster jars were carved from a translucent gypsum, or marble. The perfume as made from a root that as extracted from a plant grown chiefly in India. When Mary was doing something in Jesus speech as “beautiful” it had a more ethical aesthetic meaning. When Jesus also mentioned you will always have the poor which highlighted Deut. 15:11 which enhanced what Mary was truly making such a special sacrifice for Him.
I would assume this opened the door to Judas to start him thinking in the way of betrayal, he began to realize that Jesus was not going to overthrow Rome, as some type of political rebellion, so as Mary was pouring out a years worth of salary over Jesus, he began to think right there, that Jesus’ motives were not physical or political but spiritual, So right here being that Judas was so greedy and the treasurer, he realized he had to do something to get money and that is where the betrayal started to tick in his mind. So he would have to go elsewhere with a different plan to gain money. The religious leaders were planning to wait till after the Passover, but the thirty silver coins the price of a slave, and Judas going to them speeded up the chief priests plans.
The Passover took place only for one night, but the feast or festival of unleavened bread would last for a week. The people removed all the yeast from their homes as a commemoration at the time which relates back to Egypt (exodus) where they didn’t have the time to wait for the bread to rise.
The dipping of something was a related custom of friendship, out of a common bowl, and which even made the confusion of Judas even more conflicting.
25Then Judas, the one who would betray him, said, "Surely not I, Rabbi?"
Jesus answered, "Yes, it is you."
26While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take and eat; this is my body."
27Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, saying, "Drink from it, all of you. 28This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. 29I tell you, I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom."
We all know about the Lords Supper the breaking of the bread the passing to each one, and the wine that Jesus held up and blessed it, and handed it to each of his disciples and thus this was for the forgiveness of sins, for this is the new covenant, the old is past, the new would not be the blood of an unblemished lamb slain at the alter, it would be the perfect lamb of God , Himself , which would be slain on the cross, a sinless sacrifice that our sins may be forgiven once and for all. And all those who believe in Christ will receive that forgiveness. We may also look as we all do now, as a communion together as we meet and to remember as we eat of the bread and drink of the wine, we should all remember the whole situation and His death for us, and His promise to come back to us again, and to be grateful and joyful as we all meet together as the body of Christ. As we all know the bread was his body and the wine was his blood. He also wanted to reassure his men that they will have victory over death, and within the next few hours it may seem like a defeat to them, but in reality, they would experience the power of the Holy Spirit, and have the inner power to spread the good news, and those who believe in Christ, that one day all will be together again in God’s new Kingdom.
30When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
During at this time scholars have researched that the hymn probably came from the book of Psalms probably from 115-118, they were the traditional psalms sung as part of the Passover meal.
31Then Jesus told them, "This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written:
" 'I will strike the shepherd,
and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.' 32But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
Well it seems all the disciples will fall away, and this is connected with the prophecy in Zach. 13:7, and there is several reasons why he wanted to meet them back in Galilee, they all were from Galilee, he also wanted to be pretty much away from Jerusalem in the middle of the resistance, He also wanted to continue in a familiar area were he could Shepard His flock, were he had ministered to them before, and it would be the most successful setting for the great commission.
33Peter replied, "Even if all fall away on account of you, I never will."
34"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "this very night, before the rooster crows, you will disown me three times."
35But Peter declared, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the other disciples said the same.
All the disciples did agree that they all would die, before they would deny Jesus, I guess this is where true faith comes in, it is easy to say that you are devoted to Christ but how many can really act on what they say, when they are suffering or under a great weight of persecution. Or how many can still stand under so much intense adversity.
36Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, "Sit here while I go over there and pray." 37He took Peter and the two sons of Zebedee along with him, and he began to be sorrowful and troubled. 38Then he said to them, "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me."
As we all know Gethsemane means oil press, And Jesus was in great anguish at this particular time and he pulled away Peter, James, and John as He has before, for it seems at this time period He wanted them to be close to Him, he knew he was going to face physical pain , the plan was all set and still the human in Him could feel it. But here the anguish that he felt He is able to relate to us as we go through our anguish and pains, so he Himself can relate to us while we suffer, so in other words His strength came from the Father, just as similar to us now a days.
39Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
At this point it was not the physical suffering anymore to make Him pray this way it was at this time period that he was thinking about being separated from God and taking on the sins of the world upon Himself. The cup was a symbol of a figure of speech for the wrath based on the Old Testament, or a symbol of deep sorrow and suffering, and here a sinless man had to face His father turning His face away from Him, as He took sins of the world upon Himself for us, from suffering and separation.
40Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. 41"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
Although Jesus was addressing Peter he was looking to all three of them, and He was trying to explain to them that they should have been awake at the time of His greatest need. The way to overcome temptation is to keep alert and pray, buy them keeping alert then can be aware of the temptation that lies ahead. We have to be spiritually strong and equipped to fight it. When temptation strikes it seems we are the most vulnerable, they had to be awake and ready because they were going to be tempted themselves. Flesh is human weakness, we need to be empowered by God supernaturally, Prayer is essential because God’s strength can store up our defenses and defeat Satan’s power.
42He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
43When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Look, the hour is near, and the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. 46 Rise, let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"
I guess this week I started off a little early but I wanted to finish to the fact of the prayers that Jesus was making in the final hour before he was about to be betrayed, the fact that Jesus prayed the same words indicates that there is nothing wrong with repetition from a devout heart In the first prayer, Jesus made a positive request: “Let this cup pass from me” In the second and third prayers, His request was negative. In obedience to His Father, Jesus committed Himself to drink the cup, what ever the cost. Jesus was still sweating in prayer to the point of exhaustion, just like the way that I feel now, I am sorry my brothers and sisters this is as far as I can go, I wanted to go all the way to the great commission, but the weakness has ever come over me, please forgive me.
Dear heavenly Father, I am sorry I could not complete what I set out to do, I got to the point where Jesus was about to be betrayed by Judas, and kissed, but I can not go on any further, Father please help me, I hope I didn’t fail you, I hope this sermon at least touched someone’s heart, and gave some point of realization to the fact of this chapter, and have gained some teaching of the bread of life, and the Love and sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Please forgive us all for our sins, please help us this day, please help us to spread the word of your Son, and what He has done for us, and how he suffered for us and even while yet, we were still sinners, He suffered and died for us, We Love you Father, In Jesus name, Amen
